Release Notes for COE Security PlatformV1.0

The COE Security Conformance test consists of a test suite called the HOSTS (Host-Oriented Security Test Suite), which is used for evaluating an implementation’s compliance with the Defense Information Infrastructure (DII) Common Operating Environment (COE) Security Requirements Specification (SRS). These tests are primarily written in the PERL language v. 5 and the Bourne shell, and are portable to POSIX systems. The HOSTS distribution is organized into several sections, including the main driver program, several common task plugin modules, and test input files based on the five COE KPC security test categories.

The "Security Testing Procedures" as they are required for validating COE 4.2P6 security under the Open Group COE certification program can be found as the tog_coe-Security_Testing-v.1.0.pdf file located in the doc directory on the hosts-1.0.tar file. Alternatively, this document as well as all COE validations procedures for COE certification can be found at:

            http://www.opengroup.org/coe/protected/valprocs/v1.0/

The standard operating procedure for the HOSTS test suite is described in the document “Host-Oriented_Security_Test_Suite-sop-v1-5-0-0.pdf”. It can be located in the doc directory on the hosts-1.0.tar file.

A detailed status of the current problems and methods of analysis has been discussed in detail in the "Results Interpretation within the Common Operating Environment Kernel Platform Certification Security Test Plan’s Automated Environment". This document and be found in the doc director and is labeled as the "kpc_failure_interpretation.pdf" on the hosts-1.0.tar file.
